Precious Promises – Day 6 by SGLY Ministry
Today’s Promise: CONFIDENCE For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength. But you would not,” Isaiah 30:15 (NKJV) Today’s Thought: “But you would not…” Isn’t that a sad statement? Here the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, is telling Judah to return to Him and put their confidence in Him instead of in man [Egypt] but they “would not”. “Woe to the rebellious children,” says the LORD, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin; Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice, Isaiah 30:1-2 (NKJV) Confidence is trust, reliance, assurance, belief in something or someone. We have a choice, just as Judah did. We can choose to put our confidence in the Lord or in man. If we put our confidence in the Lord and live in obedience to Him, He promises to keep us safe and to give us His strength each day. For, the Lord promises strength and protection to those who have confidence in Him. Judah “would not”. They placed their confidence in man and ultimately found out they had made the wrong choice. Let’s learn from their mistake and each day say: ” I will choose to put my confidence in the Lord and not in man.” Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord, Your word says in Proverbs 3:26 that You are my confidence and You will keep my foot from being caught in a snare. Lord, I want to place all my confidence in You each day. I want You to strengthen and protect me. I want to claim all these promises of Your word. Help me to remember them and walk in them everyday. Thank You Lord. Amen. ********** Welcome to Verse of the Day! Today's Bible Verse: Hebrews 13:5-6 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?" (ESV) Today's Inspiring Thought: The Lord Is My Helper In these hard times of extreme economic instability, it's easy to lose focus, take our eyes off God, and begin to worry about money. But, not only does the Lord say, "I will never leave you nor forsake you," the wise old Psalmist observed in Psalm 37:25, "I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread." If you find yourself fretting today, let this passage infuse you with confidence in the Lord's ability to take care of you. God is your helper! Do not fear! ********** My eyes anticipate the night watches and I am awake before the cry of the watchman, that I may meditate on Your word. — Psalm 119:148 (AMPC) Love Not Sleep by Joyce Meyer It is interesting that our popular greeting is "Good morning." Somewhere along the way, someone realized that if we get started off right in the morning, we will have a good day. Proverbs 20:13 says, Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes and you will be satisfied with bread. And Psalm 57:8–9 encourages us to wake up ready to sing praises: Awake, my glory (my inner self); awake, harp and lyre! I will awake right early [I will awaken the dawn]! I will praise and give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations. Good rest is very important, and we all need to be rejuvenated in order to face the day and be productive. Starting every day with a good attitude, studying God’s Word and getting in some praise and worship helps get every day off to a good start! Prayer Starter: Father God, thank you for good rest. I know I can face every challenge today because You are with me. I lift up all of my concerns to You right now. I choose to believe Your Word. Thank you for rejuvenating me. In Jesus’ name, amen. ********** Finding Balance in Your Life by Joyce Meyer Keeping our priorities straight and finding balance in life is very important. And I have found that in order to do that, we have to make changes and adjustments on a regular basis. Life seems to get full sometimes without us even knowing how it got that way. We say yes to one thing and another, and then maybe we do a favor for a friend—the list goes on and on. Before long, we start to feel frustrated and overwhelmed because we are not able to do the things we need to do. We may even find ourselves doing things we don’t really want to do. When that happens, it’s time to reprioritize. The good news is, God wants to help us find our balance in life. I encourage you to seek Him first and when you do, He will help you, one step at a time. This Week's Scripture: Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 AMP Tip from Joyce: “We must be honest with ourselves about what our priorities really are and start making changes to keep God in first place.” – Joyce Meyer Study Suggestion: What are your priorities? Make a list of what’s truly important to you and ask God to help you identify any areas that are out of balance. Make adjustments where needed and use your list to help you keep your priorities straight in your day-to-day decision making. ********** Be Who You Are by Joyce Meyer In Galatians 6:4 the apostle Paul exhorts you to grow in the Lord until you come to the point you can have the personal satisfaction and joy of doing something commendable in itself alone without resorting to boastful comparison with other people. Thank God, once you know who you are in Christ, you are set free from the stress of comparison and competition. You know you have worth and value apart from your works and accomplishments. Therefore, you can do your best to glorify God, rather than just trying to be better than someone else. What a glorious, wonderful freedom to be secure in Christ and not have to be controlled by strife, envy, or jealousy. You can be who God created you to be! He doesn’t make mistakes! Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for the gifts and talents You have given me. Help me to confidently do my best, but also remain humble and grateful. Set me free from comparing myself with others. Help me to not feel “more than” or “less than.” In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
